In the Community

Proud to support local

We live and work in the village of Kingskerswell and are proud to be actively involved in the community and surrounding areas.

As a responsible business we enjoy supporting local efforts to improve village life.

Citizen’s Advice Bureau

Ian volunteers at Citizen’s Advice on a Monday as he is now a qualified assessor.  It’s great to know that he will be helping the local community.

Easter 2020 to Present – Children’s Colouring Competition

It’s always lovely to run something that includes the local children and a colouring competition is the perfect way to brighten up our office window.  We hope all the passers-by enjoyed looking at them, we certainly do!

Please see below for all our past winners and their colourful winning entries.

Thank you to all the children who entered.

Halloween 2020 to Present – Kingskerswell Pumpkin Trail

Each year we hide pumpkins around the village.  A ‘clue’ sheet can be picked up from our office and the children can set off on a trail to find them!

We try to change it slightly each year to keep the youngsters entertained.

Huge thanks to the other local businesses that are happy to pop a pumpkin poster in their windows.

As a keen rugby fan, Oliver is very excited to continue to support Newton Abbot Rugby Club for their 25/26 season and very much looking forward to watching some matches and attending their events.

We also sponsored their Grit & Gratitude Festival in June 2024, with all profits going towards Men’s mental health charities.

Spreading some Christmas Cheer 2023

We donated two prizes to the Kingskerswell Primary School PTFA Christmas raffle… we hope they help to raise lots of money for the local school!

Wishing the club a great year of success and we can’t wait to come down to the park and watch a fixture or two over the summer as a sponsor once again!

Spreading some Christmas Cheer this Year

…Part One!
We have donated lots of books to the local primary school for them to give out as prizes at their class Christmas parties.  We hope they all had a smashing time.

…Part Two!
A craft kit made it’s way to Kingskerswell Brownies and we are sure the girls (and Brown Owl!) will love getting all crafty and learning to sew.

…Part Three!
We made up 100 ‘reindeer food’ treats for the PTFA to sell at the local schools Christmas Fayre.  There are going to be some very happy reindeers visiting the village on Christmas Eve!

…Part Four!
Paint and craft items were donated to Kingskerswell Navigators, a village group for 5-8 and 9+ year old children.  This will definitely keep them busy when the weather doesn’t allow them to get out and about.

financial advice evening session

Drop-In Evening Advice Sessions

We launched our evening Drop-In Advice Sessions in October.

Many life events will impact finances, such as death/inheritance, new job, medical issues and divorce, so being able to access qualified, professional advice can relieve a lot of stress and worry.
Being part of the Kingskerswell community and village life is important to us, so should you have any financial questions or concerns relating to pensions, inheritance, mortgages etc then please pop in to our office on Fore Street for a chat.
There is no need to book in and there is no cost to this service.

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022

We had a lovely time celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the June bank holiday in Kingskerswell and were pleased to support both the evening concert on the Saturday and family fun day on the Sunday.

It was fun to see all the businesses on Fore Street get into the spirit of it with bunting galore in the windows.  The post box outside our office also got a Jubilee makeover with Glynis from the Garden Gate knitting up a fabulous crown!

It’s so nice to live and work in a village with such great community spirit.

Spreading some Christmas Cheer

…Part One!
Kerswella Care work incredibly hard to support the elderly and vulnerable in our village so we have donated presents for them to distribute to their guests at their upcoming Christmas events. We hope they have a wonderful time!

…Part Two!
We have donated books to children at the local primary school whose families may need some extra support. We wish you all lovely Christmas and hope the children enjoy their presents. (Thanks to Eva for helping wrap them all!)

…Part Three!
Ian ordered lots of cat food for the South Devon Hedgehog Hospital (Regd. Charity No. 1182659), based in Coffinswell this week…we couldn’t leave out animals in our Christmas Cheer! British hedgehogs are now officially vulnerable to extinction so the team at the hedgehog hospital are doing a fab job. (They also have some wonderful hedgehog houses and feeding stations for sale if you’re looking for a Christmas gift!)

halloween postersHalloween 2021 – Kingskerswell Pumpkin Trail

This year we made it bigger, so rather than just Fore Street, it was a short circular route along Fore Street, down to the park via Marguerite Way and then back up Daccabridge Road.  With thanks to fellow Fore Street businesses and local residents for happily placing a pumpkin poster in their window / on their fence.

We hope the children enjoyed it… the children we heard walking past the office sounded excited when they saw our purple pumpkin in the window!

Wishing the club a great year of success and can’t wait to come and watch a fixture or two over the summer as a sponsor!

April 2021 – Forde Park Community Project, Newton Abbot

The aim is to provide employment for adults with additional needs by converting a dilapidated pavilion in our local park into a cafe where this special group of people can work. Promoting health and well-being by supporting the adjacent tennis courts and croquet lawn.  Julia and her term cycled a whopping 834 miles in May and we were happy to support such a great community project.

COVID-19 – Charitable Donations

With Coronavirus having a huge impact on everyone, charities such as Kerswella Care and Rowcroft have worked soo hard to support the vulnerable within our community.  As their fundraising events were all cancelled, we donated to these worthy causes so we hope this helps in some way.

Spring 2020 to present – Village Flower Bed

Kingskerswell Action Group (KKAG) has transformed the village into a wealth of blooms and floral displays over recent years and we love our sponsored flower bed along the main road.  We wish them the best of luck in obtaining an award from Britain in Bloom!

KKAG began in 2018 by a group of like minded individuals in an attempt to make the village a more pleasant and beautiful place to live.  The village volunteers create and maintain floral beds along the roadside and community areas.

Xmas 2019 – Xmas cards

Rather than send out Christmas cards this year we decided to make a donation to Rowcroft Hospice.

Rowcroft Hospice is committed to providing comfort, support and specialist care to thousands of patients and their loved ones across South Devon each year.  Whether you’re 18 or 80, if you have a life-limiting illness such as cancer, heart disease or MS, they are there to help whenever they are needed.

macmillan coffee morning

Sept 2019 – MacMillan Coffee Morning

What better than to have a cuppa and a cake in the aid of charity!  Ian and Ali headed over to the local MacMillan Coffee morning at St Mary’s Garage where  ladies in the village had made some gorgeous cakes.  They did a great job and hopefully they raised lots of money.

Summer 2019 – Summermoon Festival

The Summermoon Festival is Kingskerswell’s big summer event and so of course we had to sponsor a barrel of beer…and turn up to sample it, along with a few other beers!  The Beer Festival has raised a huge amount of money over the years for local charities and we are pleased we can help.
