About Ian
Ian started working as an Independent Financial Advisor in April 1980, when he joined a national firm of advisers based in Moorgate, London. He moved to their Covent Garden office in 1981 and left them early ’82 to set up his own firm, also based in the West End. In 1983 he opened an office in Torquay and moved his family from Hertfordshire to be by the sea. He kept an office in Torquay until a move to Kingskerswell, his home for 20 years, became possible in January 2018. He is now able to walk to his office in five minutes.
He still has clients from his days of being in London and deals with private individuals, Trustees, Attorneys and has been the financial advisor to a national charity for over 15 years.
Ian is an affiliate member of STEP, the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. .
In 2022 Ian became a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. He joins a group of just over 5,000 people – not all of whom are advisors – with this elite status in the UK.
Ian is a qualified Citizen’s Advice Bureau Assessor and volunteers at CAB on Mondays .
Outside of work he enjoys cooking, seeing his children and grandchildren, weekends travelling in his motorhome, playing the trombone and keeping active with cycling and hashing (Hash House Harriers).
